Another Way to Love You

11/6/2021

Picture
I used to love you
More than I meant to
I would cling to you

I remember noticing
the way you stopped smiling at me
Feeling magic slip away
Watching it leave

I resented you, us
I forgot what it was like to have Me
It was a precious gift I’d lost

Eventually I stopped answering your calls
| I stopped searching for a lost cause |

I ran away
Because I couldn’t bare the thought
Of another night
Not knowing what you want
I knew you felt the same
And maybe it’s a shame
I wouldn’t beg you to stay
|  I chose another way |

Today I stared at the clock
Thinking of everything you’re not

But you’re everywhere… even if you’re not

Confused again
By your subtle queues
I don’t know what you want from me...

Your path is your own to trek
But if our paths happen to cross

Dear friend,
I will always walk with you
