Native Seeds

Handmade abaca paper with prairie dropseed (sporobolus heterolepis). Similar to seed pods, this paper will disintegrate with water exposure. I embedded prairie dropseed because the seeds excel in hot, dry conditions where it can soak up the sun (draught tolerant). This seed is one of the many native to Minnesota (greater eastern North America) that is preparing/adapting for more than normal soil, air, and climate conditions. Prairie dropseed is known for fragrancy coming from seed stalks in late summer. In the fall and winter it distinctly contrasts other dropseed with it's golden hue.
