Public Art Proposal

Picture
Public Art Proposal, 2019
Bringing a Color Field Painting 'to life'. The idea behind this project was for the viewer to feel color in a new way. The white sheet drawn underneath the bridge is meant to get shape/life from the wind and water below. The viewer would get a new perspective of their environment by tapping into senses of sounds from the sheets, water, and wind. As well as a new color perspective of the image from the minds eye. The overarching theme is that the sheets would block out the underside view of the bridge. This creates a smaller perspective for viewing - an enhancement on the idea "color is freed from objective context and becomes the subject itself." This piece is meant to be captured during many different times of day and seasons of the year. The concept is driven by documentation of changes within the surrounding environment. Personally, I would love to see this project during a sunset when the limitations from the sheets alter the reflection on the water and colors of the sky.
